Yixing teapots are known to brew
the best tea. The natural, unglazed Zisha and
Zuni clays are lead free and retain heat well.
The semi porous clay slowly absorbs the flavors
of the tea and 'seasons' the teapot - it is said
that you can make tea in a well-used pot by just
pouring in hot water! Generally they are used
for black, oolong and pu-erh teas, with green
and white teas being steeped in gaiwans or glassware.
Yixing teapots hold about 5-10 oz. of water and
are perfect for brewing gongfu style tea that
is more concentrated and flavorful.
